Висвітлено погляди М.В.
Mykola Levytsky had his own vision of Ukraine’s historical place in Europe. In his opinion, the natural
path of European development, which lies through Poland, in spite of the existing disputes between neighbors,
has been violated by perfidy of Russian rulers. Ukraine was supposed to melt into the Russian Empire, and
Ukrainian people had to lose their national identity and the ability to fight for independence. To change such
course of history and recover Ukraine’s innate, indisputable place in Europe, is what Mykola Levytsky called
for, and he was nearing this time with his unresting scientific and socio-political work.
The publication covers M. V. Levytsky’s vision of the role of Russia, Poland and Western European countries
on the nation building of Ukraine and its people. Through the lens of the Soviet security services publications
and publicistic hand-written pieces, his personality is presented as a patriot, a great believer in the development
of independent Ukraine among European nations.
