<title>Autowaves of component concentration under directed crystallization</title>
<link>http://dspace.nbuv.gov.ua:80/handle/123456789/176418</link>
<description>Autowaves of component concentration under directed crystallization
Gus`kov, A.P.
The occurrence of autowaves at the interface as a result of a first-order phase transition had been&#13;
examined. The linear analysis of a system of the equations for a liquid which contains two components&#13;
shows that a phase transition at the interface can give rise to autowaves. A spectrum of these autowaves&#13;
depends on parameters of the system. For a special case of the system parameters an analysis is made of&#13;
the dependence of the spectrum of autowaves from a temperature gradient the interface. We show that&#13;
as a result of a interface instability in the bulk solid phase there are various periodic structures of&#13;
distribution of the component concentration. Surfaces of equal concentration for the spectra of the&#13;
autowaves are built. A qualitative and quantitative comparison of the numerical calculations with&#13;
experimental data is made.

<title>The NASA/JPL program in microgravity fundamental physics</title>
<link>http://dspace.nbuv.gov.ua:80/handle/123456789/176417</link>
<description>The NASA/JPL program in microgravity fundamental physics
Israelsson, U.E.; Lee, M.C.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has been supporting research in&#13;
microgravity low temperature physics tor about 20 years. In the last 10 years the program has seen&#13;
srgnrhcant growth rn the number ot funded investigations and in the breadth of the research activities&#13;
being pursued. Currently, flight experiments are being performed exclusively on the Space Shuttle. For&#13;
the future, a cryogenic Space Station facility is being developed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and&#13;
industrial partners to support the microgravity needs ot the international scientific community. The&#13;
facility will be attached to the Japanese Experiments Module’s Exposed Facility and will operate with&#13;
a 6 month helium cryogen lifetime. Flights of the facility are planned at 2 year intervals starting in 2003&#13;
with each flight accommodating multiple scientific experiments. Capabilities, conceptual designs and&#13;
development plans for the facility are discussed along with a summary of potential near term flight&#13;
candidate experiments.
