<description>Влияние аварийных разливов нефтепродуктов в Керченском проливе на большого баклана
Савицкий, Р.М.
About 2000 tons of black oil and diesel oil, 6800 tons of sulphur entered sea in the Kerch Strait after tankers' wreck in November 2007. Ornithological investigations have been carried out from 13.11.2007 to 25.02.2008 at Taman Penincula to study the influence on birds of this accident at sea and estimate the damage. Species composition and numbers of dead birds were determined as well as the reasons of their death. The total number of dead birds in the waters of Kerch Strait after the accident at sea was about 12000 individuals. Proportion of the Cormorants among dead birds was 18%.

Present data have been collected during 1987-2008. From the end of XIX century to the beginning of XX century the Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) colony was known only on the Berezan Island. Later this species had disappeared. The next nesting of the Cormorant was observed in 1980 (at the Kinburn Peninsula). Numbers of the species increased and new colonies have appeared. Maximum number of nesting birds was known in 2006 - there were more than 10000 pairs of the Cormorant, numbers of the local population was about 50000 individuals at the end of the breeding season.

The Cormorant appeared on breeding in the oak-tree clumps at the Salt-Lake area of the Black Sea Biosphere Reserve in 2008. Its nesting here is a real threat for unique local associations. The necessity of further perfection of complex measures on a management of the Cormorant population in the Black Sea Biosphere Reserve is discussed in the present report.

Молодан, Г.Н.; Бронсков, А.И.; Мосин, Г.Г.
Data on number increase of the Cormorant and change of its status in Donetsk region at the Sea of Azov coast are presented for the last 6 years. Firstly the Cormorant was rare on passage and common but non-breeding in summer, later it becomes numerous and breeding species. On Krivaya Spit in the Sea of Azov region there were 154 breeding pairs in 2007 and 1800 breeding pairs - already in 2008. Interactions between the Cormorant and the Great Black-headed Gull are considered. The accumulative role of the Cormorant in attraction of the White and Dalmatian Pelicans is noted. Positive influence of strengthening of a protection regime on the increase in numbers of nesting birds on the Krivaya Spit due to foundation of the Regional Landscape Park "Meotida" is discussed.
