Study of water diffusion in lymphocyte membranes from thymus gland and spleen of rats by method of quasi-elastic scattering of slow neutrons
Grechko, L.G.; Semchuk, O.Yu.; Bila, R.V.; Slisenko, V.I.; Ostapchenko, L.I.
The aqueous suspensions of lymphocyte membranes from the rat thymus gland and spleen cells were studied by the method of a quasi-elastic neutron scattering. Effect of X-ray irradiation on dynamics of water molecules in suspension of such membranes was examined. It was shown that a diffusion coefficient of water molecules decreases with increasing of a dose of X-ray irradiation animals (rats) from 0.5 up to 1.0 Gray.

Optical properties of metal-composite-based thin films

Optical properties of metal-composite-based thin films
Gozhenko, V.V.; Grechko, L.G.; Goncharuk, Yu.S.; Ogenko, V.M.
In the first part of this work we study the effect of a semi-infinite matrix dispersed system (MDS) on the external electromagnetic radiation in the electrostatic approximation. With the help of our previous technique, we obtain general expressions for the multipole expansion coefficients of the electric potential for a sphere accounting for the interaction between ambient particles and the substrate. The polarizability tensor and resonant frequencies of a single sphere show anisotropy due to the influence of a substrate. In the second part electrodynamical properties of thin percolating layers manufactured on the basis of the MDS are considered. Transition from 3-D to 2-D behavior, which is observed near the percolation threshold and shows itself as changing of some parameters (in comparison with those for 3-D percolating system) like the values of percolation threshold, critical indices of conductivity and permittivity, were studied.

Mass-spectrometric study of single-walled carbon nanotubes modified by aliphatic amines

Mass-spectrometric study of single-walled carbon nanotubes modified by aliphatic amines
Gromovoy, Yu.; Basiuk, E.V.; Pokrovskiy, V.A.; Chuiko, A.A.
The gas-phase derivatization procedure was employed for direct (i.e., without chemical activation of terminal carboxylic groups) amidization of oxidized single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with simple aliphatic amines. The procedure includes treatment of SWNTs with amine vapors under reduced pressure and temperature of 160-170ºC. Applicability of temperature-programmed desorption mass spectrometry for chemical characterization of the derivatized SWNTs was analyzed. Heating of the amine-treated SWNTs at temperature >200ºC causes cleavage of alkenes from the amine residues: nonene and pentene are formed in the case of nonylamine and dipentylamine, respectively.

Some aspects of mechanical characteristics forming in carbon materials based on exfoliated graphite
Sementsov, Yu.I.; Pyatkovsky, M.L.; Prikhod’ko, G.P.; Ogenko, V.M.; Sidorenko, I.G.; Yanchenko, V.V.
Structural and phase transformations in precursors of the exfoliated graphite (EG) and an effect of various conditions of heating, extension and chemical modification on structure and physical properties of EG-based carbon materials were studied. Some aspects of the forming of the strength characteristics of low-density materials from EG at the principle stages of their preparation are considered. The preliminary results of obtaining of aggregate models of EG-carbon and EG-carbon-carbon fibre are considered.
