The influence of a simulated acid rain with pH = 2.0 and pH = 3.0 on the biomass increment&#13;
and its structure is investigated for main forest-forming species of the Chernivtsi region in&#13;
microcosmical models. A decrease of the biomass increment for all species under the action of&#13;
an acid rain with pH = 2.0 is shown. The influence of an acid rain with pH = 3.0 stimulates&#13;
the biomass increment in conifers.

<summary type="text">Порiвняльний аналiз цитотоксичностi природних клiтин-кiлерiв у хворих з доброякiсними та злоякiсними пухлинами щитовидної залози до та пiсля лiкування

The authors have studied the cytotoxic activity of natural killer (NK) cells. With this purpose,&#13;
the NK-cell activity was determined in 49 patients with benign thyroid tumours and in 48&#13;
patients with malignant thyroid tumours (aged from 18 to 65 years, 84 women and 56 men)&#13;
depending upon the age, gender, degree of spreading, and presence of tumour metastases before&#13;
surgery and in 1 to 6 months after surgery. The control group (43 subjects) consisted of practi-&#13;
cally healthy persons of appropriate age and gender. In a second series of investigations, the&#13;
authors have examined 35 patients with papillary thyroid cancer (TC) before prescribing a&#13;
regular course of radioiodine therapy and 25 patients from this group who had received radi-&#13;
oiodine therapy for eliminating a residual thyroid tissue and treating metastases. It has been&#13;
shown that the NK-cell cytotoxic activity in patients with TC did not depend upon the age,&#13;
but depended to a large extent upon the gender, degree of tumour spreading, and presence&#13;
of metastases, being the lowest at T4 stage and in the group with metastases. Unlike pati-&#13;
ents with benign tumours, in patients with papillary TC, the NK-cell activity was significantly&#13;
suppressed. After surgical treatment of patients with TC, the NK-cell activity was decreased by&#13;
1.5 times as compared to that in healthy donors. After radioiodine therapy, the NK-cell activity&#13;
in patients with papillary TC was additionally decreased by 1.3 times as compared to the initial&#13;
indicator.

<summary type="text">Клонування генів рекомбінантних субодиниць дифтерійного токсину Corynebacterium diphtheriae та їх експресія в клітинах Escherichia coli

The diphtheria toxin is the main pathogen of Corynebacterium diphtheriae. This is a protein&#13;
with molecular weight 58,360. Having penetrated into endosomes of sensitive cells, diphtheria&#13;
toxin is digested into two subunits: A and B. Fragments of diphtheria toxin’s gene which encode&#13;
subunits A and B have been amplified from genomic DNA of Corynebacterium diphtheriae&#13;
strain NCTC 10648. Plasmids containing subunit A and subunit B have been constructed using&#13;
expression vector pET24a. Expression of recombinant subunits was performed in E. coli strain&#13;
Rosetta (DE3) сеlls under control of strong T7 promoter. Recombinant proteins were purified&#13;
from cell lysate under denaturating conditions by affinity chromatography. Antigen properties&#13;
were confirmed by western blot analysis.

Complex fluorophosphates of nickel and alkali elements M2NiPO4F (M = Li, Na) have been&#13;
synthesized from flux melts of the system of fluorophosphates. The synthesis conditions and the&#13;
existence area of synthesized phosphates are pointed out. The obtained compounds are investigated by X-ray FA, IR spectroscopy and quantitative analyses.
