In this work the interaction peculiarities of electro-magnetic optical range
radiation with gratings’ surfaces are investigated. The multilevel diffractive holographic
grating is proposed to be used for the polarization optical methods testing. This object
allowed to obtain simultaneous visualization of different spatial frequencies and to
estimate both structure and surface peculiarities when working with 3D-objects. Using
this additional information one can remove uncertainty in solution of the inverse problem
of ellipsometry related with ellipsometric angles periodicity. Thereby, multiangle
ellipsometry allowing investigation of the specular reflection component could be used to
study submicron peculiarities of the object. We have also presented the basic aspects of
ellipsometric method optimization. It was shown that anisotropy parameters, such as
linear amplitude anisotropy and linear phase anisotropy, obtained from ellipsometric
measurements are the most effective to ascertain the submicron characteristic dimension
of material.

Optical and photovoltaic properties of polyphenylenevinylene derivative –
poly(2-methoxy-5-(3-,7-dimethyl-octyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene (MDMO-PPV) and
its composites with high (40 %) concentration polymethine dyes (PD) – meso-Cl and
hexaindoletricarbocyanine (HITC) films have been studied. Two H-aggregates of dyes
with different energies that weakly depend on the molecular structure of dyes, is formed
in MDMO-PPV with PD in composites films. The efficiency of photogeneration of
charge carrier by these aggregates is greater than the efficiency of photogeneration of
charge carriers by the quasi-isolated molecules of dye. It results in substantial expansion
of the absorption region (in comparison with the absorption region of molecules in
solution) and photosensitivity in the side of higher energies. The presence of PD
aggregates in the films MDMO-PPV influences on their photosensitivity that depends on
PD molecular structure. This dependence can be caused by interaction between the
molecules of MDMO-PPV and dye. In composites MDMO-PPV/HITC, the value of
interaction is low and practically does not influence the efficiency of photogeneration of
charge carriers by MDMO-PPV molecules, which give a considerable contribution to
formation of the photovoltage in 2-3 eV regions. The interaction of meso-Cl and
MDMO-PPV molecules is stronger, and this, probably, results in considerable decrease
of photovoltage in the region of the excitation of MDMO-PPV.

In this paper, we explore the electrophysical and electroluminescence (EL)
properties of thermally grown 350 nm thick SiO₂ layers co-implanted with Si⁺
and C⁺
ions. The implanting fluencies were chosen in such a way that the peak concentration of
excess Si and C of 5-10 at.% were achieved. Effect of hydrogen plasma treatment on
electroluminescence and durability of SiO2 (Si,C) - Si-system is studied. Combined
measurements of charge trapping and EL intensity as a function of the injected charge
and current have been carried out with the aim of clarifying the mechanisms of
electroluminescence. EL was demonstrated to have defect-related nature. Cross-sections
of both electron traps and hole traps were determined. EL quenching at great levels of
injected charge is associated with strong negative charge capture, following capture of
positive charge leading to electrical breakdown of SiO₂ structures.

Charge storage characteristics of gold nanoparticles embedded in alumina matrix
Bratus, O.; Evtukh, A.; Kaganovich, E.; Kizjak, A.; Kizjak, I.; Manoilov, E.
The processes of charge accumulation in the nonvolatile memory metal-oxidesilicon
capacitors with gold nanoparticles floating gate formed by the pulsed laser
deposition method are investigated. The regularities of formation of alumina films with
gold nanoparticles are the result of their deposition from the back flow of low-energy
particles from the erosion torch. With removing from the torch axis, sizes of gold
particles and the film thickness decreased. When recording the capacitance-voltage
curves, the capture of a negative charge was observed. It was shown that the
concentration of gold nanoparticles in alumina matrix and the thickness of
nanocomposite films remarkably influenced on the stored charge. The observed flat band
voltage shift was in the range 1 to 14 V. To explain the peculiarities of charge storage in
the composite films, the electron transport through them was investigated.
